Why do we have a school of ministry
at Christ Community Church?

1. Everyone is called to be a minister
There are no spare parts in the body of Christ
Ephesians 4:16 every part is necessary
and needs to function properly

2. Our Greatest Ministry is to be to the Lord.
Quote from Graham Cooke:
80% focused on Jesus
20% giving the overflow of His presence away

3. The Bible is the inerrant Word of God
The Word of God is bigger than the Bible
The Bible is our text book
Jesus is our lifetime course of study
The Pharisees searched the Scriptures
but they missed the Living Word of Christ Jesus.

14"For the earth will be filled
With the knowledge of the glory of the LORD,
As the waters cover the sea.
Habakkuk 2:14 (my emphasis bold)

Pastor Dave’s account
about vacationing in the Florida Keys:
They went 5 miles out into the Gulf of Mexico
to a point where they could no longer see land.
They observed the surface of the gulf
the whole trip.
They anchored and put on snorkel gear
and dove into the water to discover a whole new world.

i.e. Don’t be afraid to dive in at SOM
to discover a whole new world.

4. Blow the “Limits Off” the people of God
The gate to enter the kingdom is narrow
only through Christ.
Once through the gate and in the kingdom,
The kingdom is a broad and large place
.

8And You have not given me over
into the hand of the enemy;
You have set my feet in a large place.
Psalm 31:8 NASB (my emphasis bold)

Jesus said we should have life and life abundant
(John 10:10)

7There will be no end to the increase
of His government or of peace,

On the throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness
From then on and forevermore
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.
Isaiah 9:7 NASB (my emphasis bold)

Limits need to be blown off to realize His:
a) Limitless Love
b) Abounding mercies
c) Complete acceptance
d) Dynamic Encounters
e) Power
f) Grace
g) Provision
h) Mercy

There is a difference between Grace and Mercy
Grace is God giving us what we don’t deserve
Mercy is God withholding
what we do deserve (judgment)

8And God is able to make all grace abound to you,
so that always having all sufficiency in everything,
you may have an abundance for every good deed;
2 Corinthians 9:8 NASB

God puts us in places beyond ourselves
so that we will have to rely on His grace!

There are times we will be afraid!

Pastor Dave shares:
When he had leukemia
and the doctors were giving him
a very pessimistic diagnosis…
telling him he would be dead in a matter of days,
he kept a picture he had from a trip to Haiti
himself with two Haitian men.
One of them had been dead seven days
and was raised from the dead;
the other was dead four days
and was raised from the dead.
Each time the doctors gave him their negative reports
he would look over at the picture and smile.

Courage is not about “not feeling fear.”
Courage is about keeping the faith
and acting in spite of the fear we feel.

Jesus loves me this I know
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to Him belong
They are weak but He is strong
Yes Jesus Loves me
Yes Jesus Loves me
Yes Jesus Loves me
The Bible tells me so.”

These simple words to the children’s hymn “Jesus Loves Me”
Tells us two foundational truths:
1. Jesus Loves You
2. Jesus is mighty and powerful

God’s call on our lives is not limited by our mistakes!

29for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
Romans 11:29 NASB

Our mistakes tend to paralyze us:
We become afraid to try again
We fear that we will fail again

The highest price ever paid
for anything in the world
Was the price that
the Lord Jesus Christ paid
for your redemption!

There is an unlimited arena
of ministry opportunities for us to enter into.

15And He said to them,
"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Mark 16:15 NASB

We are called to go into all arenas, and aspects of the world
all people groups, cultures, and domains.

Seven mountains of Cultural Influence
we are to take for the kingdom:
Family

Church (Religion)
Government
Education, Science
Arts and Entertainment
Media
Business and Finance

We are all called to one or more of these areas to influence.

Two years ago who would have thought
that there would be prayer groups
forming all over Wall Street?
But God had his people planted,
just waiting for the proper time.
Now you can ‘Google’ Wall Street Prayer
and see the huge number of groups meeting.
Many of God’s people on Wall Street
are leading people whose hope had been shaken to Christ.

As you enter SOM be open to receive new wine…

New Wine = a fresh intoxication with the presence of the Lord

New wine requires new wine skins.

You need to be willing
to “throw the net on the other side of the boat.”
